CUSTOM FENCE DESIGN & INSTALLATION IN AUSTIN, TX
FOR HOMES WHERE THE DETAILS MATTER
Some fence projects are pretty straightforward—a standard privacy fence along a flat lot, cedar pickets, done. We do plenty of those, and we do them well.
But this page is about the other kind.
The projects where the yard has a grade change and a 40-year-old oak sitting right where the fence needs to go. Where the homeowner has a salvaged antique gate they refuse to part with. Where the landscape architect on the job has a very specific material in mind—corten steel, maybe, or a cedar-and-steel hybrid that needs to match the language of the house. These are the kind of projects we Paragon was built for.
Over the past 20 years building fences and gates across Austin—Westlake, Travis Heights, Tarrytown, Rollingwood, and everywhere in between—we’ve found that the homes with the most design-forward outdoor spaces tend to share one thing: the fence wasn't an afterthought. It was part of the design conversation from the start.
That's the kind of work we do here.
PROJECTS THAT REQUIRE THOUGHTFUL DESIGN
RESTORING AND EXTENDING AN ANTIQUE IRON GATE
The Edgar H. Perry Jr. House is perhaps one of the most well-known historic homes in Austin, TX. Originally built in 1929, the exterior of the home has remained virtually unchanged. So, when our owner, Jefferson, was approached regarding their very old iron gate, the priority was clear: increase security without losing the original gate’s historical value.
Rather than replacing it, he designed and custom fabricated a seamless extension that increased the gate’s height while matching the original ironwork’s style and proportions. The extension was engineered to integrate structurally and visually, creating a taller, more secure gate that still reads as one unified piece.
This kind of work requires precision fabrication and an eye for detail—especially when dealing with custom iron gates in Austin, TX that carry sentimental or architectural significance. Such an honor to be part of this home’s history!

masonry wall with antique wood gate
This is one of our favorite examples of high-end custom fence design in Austin—not because it was the most technically complex project, but because the solution required us to work around something irreplaceable.
For this project, the client wanted a full masonry perimeter wall paired with a salvaged antique wood door to serve as the primary entry gate. The challenge was designing a structure that felt cohesive—without overpowering the character of the original door.
We built a custom stucco wall designed to match the home’s exterior finish, proportions, and architectural lines. The antique door was reinforced and carefully integrated into a modern gate system, allowing it to function properly while preserving its one-of-a-kind character.
This project is a great example of how custom masonry walls and gates in Austin can blend historic elements with modern construction methods—resulting in a secure, cohesive, and visually striking perimeter.

designing fences around existing trees
These fences were designed and managed personally by Paragon’s owner, prior to Paragon’s founding with extra care taken for the trees.
Austin's tree canopy is one of the things that makes this city worth living in, and we take tree preservation seriously on every project where roots are in play.
Rather than cutting trees or forcing straight fence lines, we frame fencing around trunks and root zones using adjusted post spacing and structural reinforcement. The result is a fence that feels intentional, protects the tree’s health, and holds up structurally over time.
This approach is especially important for homeowners looking for tree-friendly fence installation in Austin, where preservation and longevity go hand in hand.
Custom projects require more than a standard quote—they require clarity, collaboration, and planning.
Our process begins with understanding how you want your fence or gate to function and look. We provide a clear estimate on pricing based on your goals, followed by an on-site evaluation to confirm measurements, site conditions, and design constraints.
From there, we develop a custom design plan in-house, accounting for grade changes, materials, access points, automation needs, and long-term durability. For more complex builds—such as masonry walls, automated gates, or multi-material designs—we use reference imagery, digital sketches, and 3D visualizations to help you fully understand the layout and final design plan.
Before installation, you’ll receive a detailed recap, often including a walkthrough video, so expectations are aligned and nothing is left unclear. This process allows us to deliver custom fences and gates in Austin, TX that are thoughtfully planned, structurally sound, and aligned with your outdoor living goals.
For design-forward projects — especially those involving architectural metals, multi-material builds, or properties in HOA neighborhoods with specific design review requirements—this upfront planning tends to save a lot of time and friction later on.
